Our societies and economies are faced with more challenges every day: reducing energy consumption, lessening the impact of manufacturing processes on the environment, making eco-friendly products, respecting regulatory requirements... These obligations require reliable and unquestionable data on all chemical products and their synthesis processes. Thus analytical chemistry is an unavoidable science.

The objective is to train expert executives in the analytical process from the sampling to the interpretation of the results and in a context of quality asurrance.

  • Mastering the scientific concepts and the techniques of sampling and physical and chemical analysis to characterise qualitatively and/or quantitatively solids, liquids or gases.
  • Designing, carrying out, managing and interpreting an analytical process.
  • Designing and controlling the monitoring of production processes.
  • Choosing and using relevant mathematical tools for data processing, interpretation and validation of the results.
  • Knowing and using the quality reference documents.
  • Running team or lab activities.
  • Managing relations with customers, suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Organising the management of professional risk: health and safety at work.
  • Managing technical resources.

  • Students, employees or job-seekers with at least a level of: 
    • a 4th year of university,
    • a 2nd year of university and 4 years of professional experience (VAE and VAP, accreditations for work experience).
  • Prerequisites: a scientific baccalauréat (or an equivalent to the French scientific high school diploma) and basic knowledge in analytical analysis.

The course lasts 12 months. It starts in early October and is divided into two semesters.

First semester

The first semester consists of lectures, tutorials, lab work and a project. Industrial seminars and visits of private and public laboratories complete the education. Courses of English, personal development and business knowledge are also part of the curriculum.

There are individual and collective assessments which can have an oral or written form. They are mainly based on experimental work, case studies and bibliographical review.

Second semester

The second semester consists of a project followed by a work placement in a company of 5 to 6 months. The latter leads to a written report and an oral presentation before a jury in September during a fair gathering industrialists and students.

In the private sector

In the private sector they work in the control or R&D department of big groups or SMEs. They have management functions in the field of analysis and sampling as well as in the field of quality assurance.
